Starbucks Iced Coffee VIA

[Above product was provided by Starbucks.]

On June 29th, you will be able to find Iced Coffee VIA at your local Starbucks. Starbucks created this product specifically for the use of iced coffee on the go. Being a huge fan of the original VIA, I couldn’t wait to try this new product, especially since iced coffee is my favorite way to consume coffee. I received a free 5-pack of the Iced Coffee VIA from Starbucks by being one of the first 80 people to respond to a post on the MyStarbucksIdea website.

[About half the size of my hand. But then again, I've always had small hands.]

Flavor verdict? Love it! It’s not too sweet nor is it too bold. (Then again, no coffee in my opinion can ever be too bold.) And it dissolves perfectly in cold water, which is a problem I happen to find with the original VIA. It does not seem to like mingling with cold water or milk. Also unlike the original VIA, Iced VIA is to be mixed in 16oz cold water vs. 8oz of water.

The 5-pack of Iced Coffee VIA will retail for $5.95. These packets are indeed larger than the original sticks of VIA. They’re about three times larger, actually. However they are still perfect for toting in your pocket, purse, backpack, etc. (And there happens to be a stick already stashed inside my purse.)

I’ve yet to try mixing this VIA with milk, but I’m sure it’d be a tasty alternative to water. Or it may be just as tasty when topped over ice cream. (Something I like to do with the original VIA.) Contents of the Iced Coffee VIA sticks are microground coffee and sugar, thus making them vegan friendly for those of you wondering.

Overall, I absolutely adore this new product and I can’t wait for you to try it too!

  1. I’m looking forward to trying these. I think they would be perfect for my long afternoons at the office.

    • If you try it, I hope you do a review! I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new VIA.

      • I tried these by accident and I have to say, it was a good thing! When they changed the frapp light base mix, i stopped going to starbucks, but i went to pick up some for a friend, I bought these for her and she didn’t want them so i tried them. I put a whole one in 16 ozs, 2 cups, of skim milk and man it tasted just like the old frapp lite. I have not tried it with water, and i don’t think that i will either. If i add it to the blender with a little ice, i am back in starbucks heaven. i will note that i had to add about five splenda packets, but it is really good. Please keep this around!

      • You know what’s funny? I didn’t even consider adding the Iced VIA to milk and ice, and then blending it! That’s a great idea! I’m going to have to pick up another box and try that soon.

  2. glad to know you like the new VIA. i found you “via” twitter and i must as that i’m loving your blog again! lol. your nailpolish is pretty! makes me want to paint my nails tonight!

    thanks for your blog!! :}

    • Haha, well thanks! That nail polish I’m wearing is the OPI for Sephora brand in “Read My Palm.” OPI has some of the best nail polishes I’ve ever used.

  3. I tried Via Iced yesterday at work and just like you, I thought it was great! Maybe a little less sugar would be nice, but overall – a wonderful alternative to the old coffee that was brewed hours ago down the hall at work.

  4. I love the new iced Via! My local store was handing out samples of iced Via (already made up) and I couldn’t WAIT for Starbucks to officially release it! In fact, when it was released on Starbucks online store, I purchased 20 boxes of it (100 packets total)! And I’m glad that I did because they were sold out of it within 24 hours!

Iced coffee is my favorite drink at Starbucks….but sometimes, I don’t really have the time to run out and get one. Now, I can have iced coffee any time I want – at my own convenience (whether I’m home or at the office). Starbucks seriously hit the proverbial ball out of the park with this one!

Also, have you picked up one of the Via iced tumblers? They are plastic…and have a frosted glass appearance to them…with a screw on lid which contains a built-in straw/spout. They are VERY convenient (and stylish, I might add). Check it out if you can!

    • You have some real Iced VIA love going on! And yes, I’ve seen the VIA tumblers. I’ve considered getting one, but have changed my mind often. How are they with iced coffee? Do they retain the coolness well?

      • Well, they are very convenient for iced coffee….but they really don’t stay cold very long, as it’s just a basic plastic tumbler. It’s about the same as drinking out of a plastic cup. But I like the fact that it is completely enclosed (for driving in a car)…and the drink spout has a little plastic cover (so after you take a drink, rather than having to push the spout itself back down, you can easily just flip the plastic cover over it – some people might not care, but I like the idea of keeping dust or any airborne particles away from the spout).

The double-walled cold cup tumblers are better at keeping drinks cold (they’re the ones that look like the clear plastic cups in which Starbucks serves its cold beverages). They come with reusable green straws (replacement straws are sold online in packs of 4).

      • The cold cups? Yeah, I’ve seen those. I might have to get myself one if they stay pretty well insulated.

  5. LOVE the VIA on ice! I asked my barista when they would sell it unsweetend (lightly still has A LOT for my daily intake) and she gave me an INCREDIBLE hint. It’s the same as the regular VIA but sweetened. Since it is microground it’s more like powder and disolves in cold and hot. With that said I’m loving my new iced VIA tumbler with room for ice and vanilla creamer. Not to mention hot/cold options all in one box of VIA!

  6. I found out about via Iced coffee from a co-worker, and I almost went crazy! This coffee is the best thing I ever tasted, except when I need the hot via in the mornings. I love Starbucks!!
