It’s All About The Mocha

I’m back with reviews! I know its been a while since my last post but I’ve been busy lately and I greatly apologize. The first one is with Starbucks Mocha Powder; “Sweetened Cocoa Blend To Make Caffe’ Mocha And Hot Cocoa.”

002

Yum. Yes thats right, I said yum. This stuff is fantastic. Its not an overly sweet mocha powder so you still get that beautiful cocoa taste. I stirred 2 tbsp. Into my House Blend this afternoon and I was mesmerized. I’m excited to try making some frappuccinos with it soon. I’m uncertain of how many ounces this can is but I got it for $6.95 even at the Target Starbucks. Yes its a tad pricey but if you enjoy a good mocha then I say buy it. On the side of the can it also tells you how to make Starbucks’ Caffe’ Mocha and Hot Cocoa. I haven’t tried those recipes out yet but I definitely will soon. So if you’re overly coffee obsessive, go for it.

Splenda Flavor Blends: Mocha

001

I was surprised by these mysterious little packets of sugar free crystals. They were tasty. A sweet chocolate flavor rather than a strong cocoa flavor. These are not my favorite since I do prefer the cocoa taste rather than the taste of chocolate, but however if you like the taste of milk chocolate then you would most likely like these. They are pretty cool since they come in little packets which means that they are very portable. Great to throw in your purse, back back, pocket, whenever your on the go. I think they come in a box of like 30 (I could be wrong). Besides the Mocha flavor, they also come in French Vanilla, Hazelnut, Caramel and Cinnamon Spice. Haven’t tried those flavors but if you have feel free to let me know what you think!

A recipe for Starbucks’ Chocolate Banana Vivanno:

Alright readers, this is not an exact recipe. This is a recipe I came up with a while ago, fooling around in the kitchen. I think it tastes similar. Feel free to give it a try. Also do keep in mind that I haven’t made this in a while and this is typed up from memory.

  • 1 medium ripe banana (The more ripe your banana, the sweeter your smoothie is going to be)
  • 2 tbsp. Cocoa powder
  • 3 tsp. Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Instant espresso (or 1 oz shot of fresh espresso)
  • ¾ cup of milk (whatever you prefer, 1%, nonfat, etc.)
  • 6-7 ice cubes

Dump all your ingredients into a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy! You might have to adjust your amounts of sugar accordingly to how sweet your banana is.

I’m working on a mock recipe of the Starbucks coffee frappuccino. Its coming along but it needs a bit more tinkering, though I will post the recipe as soon as its perfected. Also, in next couple of days I’m going to post a review of Starbucks’ House Blend. Keep sipping that java kids!
