Newman’s Own Special Blend Extra Bold

The wonderful folks from Cross Country Cafe contacted me a few weeks ago as to whether I’d be interested in K Cup reviews. Of course I obliged. When do I ever turn down the chance to review coffee? Cross Country not only offers K Cups, but also whole bean and ground coffee, coffee brewers, and coffee pods.

One of the K Cups I received is Newman’s Own Special Blend Extra Bold. It’s a smoother blend, but not as dark as I anticipated it to be. I found it to be closer to a medium roast in flavor than that to a darker roast. It’s kind of sweet, a little cedar-y, with a bit of a fruit flavor.

Newman’s Own Special Blend Extra Bold is a decent cup of coffee. It’s not my favorite, but it’s good. Out of 5 stars, I give it a 3. It’s just missing a little something for me to give it a perfect 5. It is the type of coffee that I like to sip out of a white ceramic mug in the late morning while reading a book from my Nook.
